About HNK Consulting

Most schools and nonprofits don't have one operations problem. They have a dozen quiet ones: a facilities request that bounces between departments, a compliance deadline no one owns, a budget process that lives in one person's head. It holds together until a key person leaves, an auditor starts asking questions, or the board wants answers. That's the moment I'm built for.

My background

I've spent my career at the executive level of education operations, leading strategy, finance, HR and benefits, payroll, and facilities for independent schools. I've been accountable for the systems that keep an institution running, and for making sure they hold up under pressure.

My experience also includes executive work in state government on education and higher education programs, so I understand compliance from both sides of the table: what regulators look for and what institutions need to have in place before they ask. That perspective has shaped how I approach accreditation and compliance work, where precision matters and the stakes are high.

How I work

Every engagement follows the same model: assess, build, hand off. I start by diagnosing where workflows break down, whether in facilities, security, food service, nursing, risk, HR, or finance. From there, I design a clear operating structure, the tools to support it, an implementation plan, and a realistic budget. Then I coach your team through a defined transition period, so the new system is fully theirs by the time the engagement closes.

Each project has a defined scope and a clear finish line. You know exactly what you're getting, and your organization is stronger and more self-sufficient when the work is done.

Who I work with

I partner with independent schools, nonprofits, and education-adjacent organizations across the tri-state area. I also speak and lead workshops for school leaders and nonprofit boards on operational leadership, compliance and financial risk, and leading through transition.

Credentials

I hold a JD from Rutgers Law School and an MBA from Cornell University and am a member of the New Jersey Bar. HNK Consulting provides advisory services, not legal representation.
